Options For Every Pet

Travel health certificates are proof your pet meets a destination’s entry requirements. No matter where you’re starting from or where you’re going, our personalized services allow you to rest easy when your travel date comes around.

Flying within the US and around the globe.

Pets flying domestically in the US need a certificate of veterinary inspection (CVI), or health certificate, before travel, plus an updated rabies certificate. There may be variations of this by destination state.

Pets flying from the US to another destination country need a country-specific health certificate completed by an accredited vet and endorsed by the USDA.

From there, requirements can vary widely based on the travel destination, airline, and the breed and age of your dog. Pets traveling to Australia, for example, require additional import permits and proof of rabies titer tests before entry.

Our expert team and in-house, state-licensed, USDA-accredited veterinarian can help you navigate import requirements and any potential hurdles by foreign country or state.

Getting vaccinations up-to-date.

All pets are required to travel with an updated rabies certificate. Some destinations require additional blood work and vaccinations.

If you’re traveling out of the US through LAX, our federally accredited veterinarians can make sure your pet’s medical records are up-to-date with required vaccines. They can also make sure your pet is well enough to travel. That can include heartworm and other blood tests, temperament checks, and overall wellness.

From around the globe to the US.

Paperwork required for pet travel into the US depends on your origin point. Countries at high risk for rabies will need to meet additional requirements for entry. We’re one of the only 7 CDC-approved animal care facilities for incoming pets from high-risk rabies locations and offer comprehensive support navigating the CDC’s new rabies-related requirements for pets flying into the US.

We can help you get your pet from door to door safely and efficiently, no matter your starting point.

Help for Every Step of the Journey

We’re not only here to make sure your pet’s paperwork is ready to go. We offer door-to-door service for both domestic pet transport and international pet moves to reduce stress for you and your pet. Excellent service

We recently moved from San Francisco to Amsterdam with our two cats (Bubble & Squeak). Tailwind were excellent from start to finish, walked us through the whole process, answered all of our questions in a timely fashion. Helped prepare the documentation before hand and day of transport took care of everything. The cats arrived safe, healthy and in perfect condition. Overall service was excellent and highly recommend anyone exploring international pet transport to use them. Great job Tailwind!!

From the United States (“the Land of the Free”) to Australia (“the Land Down Under”).

Making the decision to return to Australia was difficult for my wife and me; it required extensive research and planning.

With an increasing number of safety and regulatory compliances, getting things right the first time became even more important.

We knew we needed professional assistance when travelling with pets, nearly 10,000 miles from North America to Australia.

We provided Tailwind Global Pet with all our pets’ information, including photos, whether they are friendly or playful, their size, and everything else required for them to find a comfortable boarding experience where they are loved, preventing the experience of abandonment, and with someone who loves them as much as we do. – Thank you, Christina, for having a big heart and being like a godmother to our pets.

Thank you, Tailwing Global Pet, for your expert advice and help. – Thank you, Brady, for your excellent communication and clarity throughout this process.

We recommend Tailwing Global Pet to care for and transport your pets safely.

Excellent customer service. Great peace of mind.

Flew our 9 year old Vizsla, Whisky, from LAX to LHR last summer. Great service from the veterinary requirements to the actual moving of the the dog. literally door to door service and a happy boy at the other end.

Fast forward to March 2024 and need to take him to South America.

Had the complete run around from the airline and UK providers trying to work out how best to do it; crate dimensions allowable; excess baggage or cargo? . Called Brady who gave me chapter and verse. Great customer service ! 🙂

Frequently Asked Questions

Pets flying domestically need an updated rabies certificate and a domestic health certificate dated no more than 10 days before travel, for starters. There are some special cases — for example, Hawaii requires a rabies titer test within the last 36 months that is also at least 30 days old.

Health documentation may vary by destination country, but generally, your pet will need a USDA-endorsed international health certificate and an up-to-date rabies certificate. Health certificates should include identifying information about that pet’s ISO-compliant microchip.

The cost of health certificates for pet travel varies widely. The health certificate itself can cost anywhere from $200-$600, depending on the destination. Health certificates for international travel must be completed by a USDA-accredited veterinary clinic. In either case, you’ll need to cover the cost of vet visits and any necessary tests or vaccinations.

Pet certificates require up-to-date rabies vaccinations to meet both domestic and international pet travel requirements. Destination states, countries, or even the airline may require additional vaccinations.

The time frame for health certificates is a narrow one. In most cases, travel certificates must be issued no more than 10 days before your travel date, although there are some exceptions. A professional pet shipper can help you navigate how and when your health certificates should be completed so that your pet can make their flight.
